AVAILABLE - AMIRAH - ESTIMATED F3 - WINTHROP, MEAmirah is a spayed 11 year old Savannah female surrendered to a shelter in Winthrop, Maine. Although Maine limits Savannahs to F4 and onwards, she was surrendered with pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection common in unspayed female cats) and we suspect she was in a breeding program for those years and we also believe she is earlier generation. At least F3 but possibly even F2. She is tall and lean but still only 10lbs, surprising the vet who anticipated more from her perceived size, so typical of Savannahs. She is taller and longer than most the cats at the shelter.Amirah has taken a few days each time to get used to staff at the shelter, but has warmed and is affectionate to many of the staff after that introductory period. She does NOT like other cats, which from experience we know is common to female cats that have had litters. They become dominant and aggressive to other cats with a litter to protect, and this behavior seems to linger. Our feeling is that Amirah would be ideal in an only cat household, but potentially could accept a docile male kitty companion with a lengthy patient introduction. Please don't contact the shelter directly, they prefer to adopt Amirah via our rescue group. This is a cat only shelter so they do not know how she is with dogs.Amirah has been sensitive and reacts quickly with slaps when overstimulated and does have her claws, hence we would not consider a home with young children (under 9 years of age). She is picky about who she likes, if she likes you then you can pick her up (she does not like to be held), if she isn't so keen on you then you can pet her a couple times but more and she will slap you according to the shelter. She is a talkative cat, I am guessing she has a lot of complaints being at a shelter!Amirah has been spayed, she has a microchip which will be transferred, and has had recent bloodwork and fecal testing which gives her a clean bill of health. her adoption fee will be $200 payable to the shelter directly. Please email us at info@svrescue.com with details of your location and a description of your household and why it would suit Amirah. Please be aware of the legality of Savannahs in your location. The state of Maine and many surrounding states limit to F4 and further, hence Amirah will need to take a road trip further afield to a new home. ... See MoreSee Less

Our goal is to sell 300 calendars - please help us reach this goal by sharing and purchasing to enable us to continue helping Savannah cats in need as well as helping with costs for SV cats surrendered to rescue.Often, SV Rescue incurs large expenses in helping with surrenders - adoption fees do not cover these expenses in many cases. We do not ask for reimbursement - we just ask for donations and buying a calendar, if you can’t donate. We hope to one day be able to assist with more than $500, but can't do it without your help!!Thank you for helping our breed and we hope you enjoy the calendar...it is amazing as always. https://lulu.com/shop/zara-carrington-and-crystal-lowe-and-pam-flachs-and-brigitte-cowell-moyne/… ...
